Hello Folks,We could all use some backlighting assignments to do some develop photography. These are Jpg files I did some years ago to experiment. In all cases a regular house direct lamp was placed behind the flowers and in all of them except for the rose natural window lighten was used for evince lighting. We undergo 4 weeks to try this method and if you like you may even make a commitment on this thread that you will follow up on this. ALSO if you have any questions you may ask them here and help will probably be provided.......

Cyrus can we use any type of backlighting? By your last example. I would assume that the Sun is your backlight and i'm just trying to clarify on the assignment. Also is bounced lighting allowed?Oh do we post the examples here or will another thread be opened up?

Ray for this one use only two obtain of lighten. One would be your warmer light through any source such as a regular household lamp and the other one a natural lighten which would prbably be colder. Yes you may use bounced light or even softened light with the back up of a diffuser if you like.
Here is one I did a while ago. This example has the Sun as the light source behind it. I am currently traveling but will try to come up with some new examples while on the road.
Cyrus do these count: backlighting is provided by our friendly sun and lie lighting comes from a lightly colored house wall about 1-2 feet away? I was too afraid of using a fill-flash for fear off destroying the backlit-effect.
It certinly does Dieter but it would be nice if you could get closer and have a exceed subject isolation in order to make a more clear statement.

Gina's an expert at this. I like the little hair details in Dieter's. So hot today.. I'm cheating putting one I did awhile ago in sepia.

daisy Duo. The sun was coming from behind and they looked backlite by the sun. but was it late enough in the day ?Thought it came out interesting. Will try inside the house.

OK so this is a dead flower (so to speak). The sun was behind the teasel and I liked the way the thorns captured the color of the setting sun. I realise that neither of my 2 photos are new and therefore not move of an assignment. I did however wonder what folks thought of them. They are both collecting dust so just looking for critiques. Thanks!
I wonder if this one qualifies? It's both front and backlit by the sun you can see the water droplets showing through the petals. I'll understand if it doesn't count. I'll bring home the bacon harder if it doesn't.
like all three shots.. I evaluate cyrus wanted us to use 2 lighten sources so it looks like light is glowing through the flower but the front is also detailed. I evaluate Daves cosmos shows that where the other would be more a silloette when I get a dark accent and the flower is in cerebrate someone called it "window lighting." looks more like the light is from the align. the detail is lovely on the rose and the one displace on the edge makes the shot for me.
Melinda is quite right. Although this is a lovely shot but to do you service. I evaluate you can go up with a better back lit flower. This is just for practice so gratify try again if you wish.
Ok so here's my poor attempts again. All of these are obviously of the same flower. It's back-lit by the sun and front-lit by a lamp. I had to go to extreme lengths to get the lamp in front as I had to drag my main large living-room lamp with a reading lamp on it over to the window to get this. I really need a more mobile lighten source LOL

Going for the gilded edges:I was shooting at my rose (lighten blow very cloudy day) that stands by the white wall of my accommodate. This one with flash and slightly tweaked with curves. I was standing just out the range of my flash and the lighten was bouncing off the color wall.

Going for the gilded edges #2I like this one without the radiate. Do either of these answer as back lighting? Top lighting? :)Cyrus. I cannot be to get that hot cerebrate of yours to bring home the bacon (in your sign affix)
Some good work and samples undergo been presented so far and I encourage you all to try this if you are interested. Maybe asking to use lights of different temperature has been too challenging at this point. So you may want to use one write of lighten if you desire.
I took this one yesterday for the assignment. The backlight is the setting sun and the back up obtain of light is the color sky overhead. I took it a few degrees off looking directly into the sun to forbid glare.
Melinda, your color flower capture is not exactly backlighting you may want to try again :). Jen,You may want to skip using two different types of light just use one type such as window light and only and a alter if you want. . Maggie,The link is corrected thank you.. Karen,This is good backlighting but also remember backlighting should increase the aesthetic value of your image as well. Here's more examples.. convey you all for trying this...
Cyrus. I see your point this is a little over the top and could probably alter your head hurt pretty quickly if you looked at it for too long. What go off enjoin into the sun would still qualify as backlight?

Well. I played around with two spot-lights this morning one for backlighting and the other to bring up the shadows. Didn't have any color filters so I combined to differently white-balanced images into one:

This is move of the original photo just a command. One photo taken OOF and backlighting back up photo was in-focus and I used fill radiate. The 2 images were combined for the Orton look.
Essence,The fiorst one is very good and I like the light aim a lot. The second one is also very good backlighting and you undergo done well with it. The flower has turned out a bit doft in the center which is not bad at all but some more definition in the very center may be more complimentary.. Dieter,This is a very good interpret and the color balance is good. The only affect is the nature of the light which is harsh and I don;t think flowers are made to enter them in such lighting. I evaluate soft and moody lights ordain always answer them better.
These are both goosd just try to prevent the glare on the petals. Sara that is one great try but try not get it so bright on the top. If shot in raw you can comfort try to salvage it.
I saw that this thread was still change state. I just joined the group a few days ago so hopefully you won't mind a late assignment. I go by Ann btw. Backlit from window front is a flashlight.
To go with it.. are there any rules (let go rules) about which warmth of light should go where? I liked the warm better in the lie than in the back at least for my affect but I wanted an airy look. Nonetheless the lie comfort looks a little lackluster. Is that because of the warmth or just intensity I was using?
feh..
